I love nothing more than exploring new places, trying new activities, and meeting interesting new people. That’s why I’ve slept in a haunted hotel, been body-slammed by a luchador, and once narrowly escaped being tossed upside-down into a swimming pool to simulate a plane crash… all for the sake of the written word.

My byline has appeared in magazines like Alaska, Backpacker, Natural Home & Garden, Last Frontier, The Writer and Breathe. I’m the author of “50 Hikes Around Anchorage” from Countryman Press with another guidebook on the way, served as interim senior editor for Alaska magazine, and spent several years as About.com’s nationwide expert on hiking and backpacking.
