Award-Winning Guidebooks by Lisa Maloney

You can purchase my books at major bookstores and retail websites around the world, especially in the United States; in many independent bookstores; and through the links given below. They are usually available almost anywhere books are sold in Alaska, too, although I always recommend calling ahead to make sure they have copies on hand.

Please contact me if you’d like to order a signed copy or arrange for an emergency stock-up in your (Alaska) store; I try to keep at least a few copies of each title on hand.

Moon Alaska (third edition)

The fully updated third edition of my travel guidebook, “Moon Alaska,” was released in December 2022. Written for the independent traveler, Moon Alaska is the perfect companion to your Alaska visit, whether you’re traveling by cruise, rail, road or air. The 2017 first edition received a Silver Award from the North American Travel Journalists Association.

In between editions, I publish regular updates and bonus content at the book’s companion website, Come to Alaska.

Day Hiking Southcentral Alaska

My newest hiking guidebook is “Day Hiking Southcentral Alaska” from Mountaineers Books, which received an Excellence in Craft Award from the Northwest Outdoor Writers Association.

This is the only guidebook that offers one hundred detailed hike descriptions in Southcentral Alaska — the state’s most populous region, which stretches from the northern Mat-Su Valley to the southern tip of the Kenai Peninsula and includes the communities of Wasilla, Palmer, Anchorage, Kenai/Soldotna, Seward, Homer and more.

In between editions, I publish regular updates and bonus content at my hiking website, Hiking Alaska. You can purchase Day Hiking Southcentral Alaska through the following links:

50 Hikes Around Anchorage (second edition)

In the summer of 2019, I was delighted to finally release an updated edition of my first-ever guidebook, “50 Hikes Around Anchorage.” This second edition has been completely reworked with about a dozen new hikes, new elevation profiles, improved maps, fully updated trail descriptions, and color photographs. (Yes, the first edition had black-and-white photos, if you can believe it!)

This updated edition received an Excellence in Craft Award from the Northwest Outdoor Writers Association.
